Developing training programs, exchanging lecturers and students, sponsoring scholarships, and introducing human resources (graduated students) to Taiwan businesses,... were the areas in which Thu Dau Mot University and Taiwanese universities have agreed to cooperate in the near future.
On July 19, 2024, Thu Dau Mot University coordinated with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City to welcome and work with a delegation of Taiwanese universities. Attending the meeting, on behalf of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City, was Mr. Chen Ho-Hsien - Department of Education - Professor, Education Counselor, and representatives from 10 Taiwanese universities, including Kun Shan University; University of Taipei; Lunghwa University of Science and Technology; Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology; National Chi Nan University; Tamkang University; National Chung Hsing University; Minghsin University of Science and Technology; Yuanzi University; Taipei City University of Science and Technology. Welcoming and working with the delegation was Dr. Ngo Hong Diep – Vice-Rector of Thu Dau Mot University, and leaders of affiliated units.
In his welcome speech to the delegation of Taiwanese universities, Dr. Ngo Hong Diep, Vice-Rector, expressed his joy that Thu Dau Mot University has developed a good and friendly cooperative relationship with many universities and enterprises in Taiwan over the years, especially with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City. Based on this strong cooperative relationship, Dr. Ngo Hong Diep believed that this meeting was a valuable opportunity for each side to effectively leverage their own strengths and promote cooperative programs in education, training, and science and technology activities.
During the meeting, the leadership of Thu Dau Mot University and representatives from Taiwanese universities focused on discussing cooperation opportunities in their areas of strength, such as engineering, health sciences, computer science, industrial engineering, architecture and construction, environmental science, economics, and semiconductor technology. Specifically, the cooperation programs would be reflected in joint training activities under the frameworks of the 2+2, 1+3, and 3+1 programs; faculty and student exchange programs; collaborative research and technology transfer programs, and scholarships funded by the Taiwanese government and universities; policies actively supporting international students during and after their studies; introducing graduates to work at Taiwanese enterprises in Vietnam. In addition, the training program based on the needs of Taiwanese enterprises (Intense program) by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan was also a key point of discussion. In detail, international students enrolled in the Intense program will receive support from the Ministry of Education of Taiwan for tuition fees, airfare, living expenses, and assistance in finding employment in Taiwan after graduation.
The cooperation agreements established between Thu Dau Mot University and Taiwanese universities opened up many benefits for both parties, especially for Thu Dau Mot University students, who would have access to various scholarships sponsored by the Taiwanese government and universities. To ensure that the cooperation initiatives were quickly implemented in practice, Thu Dau Mot University and the Taiwanese universities would develop a cooperation plan, and leading to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
