The Job Fair is an annual event of Thu Dau Mot University, with its scale expanding yearly. This is an occasion to connect students with businesses, helping students gain a comprehensive and realistic view of the labor market, understand companies' needs and recruitment criteria, and 'hunt' for suitable jobs. The event also allows employers to meet and access the University's high-quality 'training products' and find potential human resources for their enterprises.
The 11th Job Fair: 47 companies seeking candidates for over 1000 job positions
This is the largest annual event for job counseling and introduction from businesses to students. Dr. Ngo Hong Diep, the Vice-Rector, emphasized that the Job Fair is a bridge helping students have the opportunity to interact, demonstrate their abilities, and find job opportunities that match their study field at reputable companies. This is one of the annual activities aimed at achieving the University's goals and strategies in career orientation, enhancing students' capabilities, introducing jobs to students, and continuing to develop cooperation between the University and businesses with the motto of accompanying and developing together. Moreover, through this occasion, Thu Dau Mot University hopes that the linkage and cooperation activities between the University and businesses will be further strengthened, helping to enhance the practical application of training programs and understanding employers' needs timely and fully.
The 11th Job Fair of Thu Dau Mot University gathered 47 units, domestic enterprises, and foreign-invested enterprises in Binh Duong Province and the Southeast region. These companies, from various industries, offered over 1,000 job positions for recent graduates and current students. The recruitment positions spanned many fields such as education, banking, commerce, IT, retail distribution, media, architecture - construction, logistics, automation, automotive engineering, sales, environmental engineering, marketing, accounting, technical staff, mechanical staff, and more.
At the TDMU Job Fair 2024, more than 3,000 students participated in a series of recruitment activities and product introductions by the businesses, actively exploring and connecting with employer representatives at each company's booth. Seizing the opportunity to interact directly with business representatives, students confidently introduced themselves and participated in direct interviews with recruiters. In the vibrant atmosphere of job counseling, introduction, and recruitment activities, many positions, such as bank specialists, accounting specialists, automotive engineers, electrical engineers, environmental engineers, and more, attracted many students to submit applications, undergo interviews, and receive job offers from companies.
As part of the job fair activities, Thu Dau Mot University signed Memorandums of Understanding with four business partners for cooperation in training human resources according to their requirements. These partners included XELEX Group Joint Stock Company, ESUHAI Co., Ltd., FELIX Technology Solutions Joint Stock Company, and YUANTA Vietnam Securities Co., Ltd. On this occasion, Thu Dau Mot University received business sponsorship and support for the job fair activities. Additionally, the companies awarded scholarships to students who had overcome difficulties, achieved high academic performance, and made significant contributions to the work of the Youth Union and Association of the University and the province.
Industry-University Cooperation: Working Together to Enhance Training Quality
In addition to the businesses' recruitment and product introduction activities, the Job Fair also featured a seminar with the theme '
Industry -University Cooperation: Working Together to Enhance Training Quality.' In four parallel sessions, representatives from businesses shared their recruitment needs and the requirements/criteria for professional competencies and skills needed by newly graduated students. Additionally, participants actively discussed directions and solutions for the University to meet the demands of businesses better.
Recognizing that the University needs to equip students with skills that match the labor market's demands, Mr. Diep Van Quang, Director of Viet Y Co., Ltd., suggested that along with developing a standard training program, the University should focus on training soft skills, enhancing students' professional awareness and work ethics in an office environment, and preparing them to adapt to the international integration context. "Based on the requirements set by employers, the University needs to provide maximum opportunities for students to study, practice, and work in businesses, applying their knowledge and skills to their careers even while still studying", Mr. Diep Van Quang proposed.
With the desire for students to have a solid foundation in professional knowledge and working skills upon graduation, Mr. Nguyen Huy Dat, Director of Straight Vietnam Co., Ltd., stated that 'learning with practice,' meaning that theory must be linked with practice. The curriculum should be organized and allocated appropriately between theoretical study and practical training. Moreover, students must be systematically trained and equipped with foreign language and computer skills to meet the increasingly high professional job requirements. Besides English, the University should also consider providing training in other foreign languages, such as Japanese and Chinese, for students. Additionally, workers' professional ethics must be emphasized and cultivated. A lack of professional ethics can easily lead to mistakes when assigned tasks, especially those requiring honesty, confidentiality, and loyalty.
At the parallel sessions, delegates and leaders of university/faculties/institutes/training programs discussed, exchanged, proposed, and recommended solutions regarding the advantages and challenges in the process of cooperation and development, such as human resource training; directions for implementing effective cooperation models; policies to support and accept students for internships and practical experiences at enterprises; coordination in organizing academic and innovation competitions for students; business-university collaboration in promoting academic reputation, brand, and community service, and more.
