In the joyous atmosphere of celebrating the 15th anniversary of Thu Dau Mot University, on the morning of June 24, 2024, Thu Dau Mot University, in collaboration with the Vietnam Institute of Science Technology and Innovation (VISTI) under the Southern Ministry of Science and Technology, held the inauguration of the Innovation Hub.
Participating in the program, from VISTI, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Nghia - Deputy Director, along with staff and experts from the Institute. From Thu Dau Mot University, there were Dr. Doan Ngoc Xuan - Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong - Rector, Dr. Ngo Hong Diep - Vice-Rector, along with leaders of affiliated units. Attending and congratulating the event were Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Binh Duong Province, Mr. Tran Trong Tuyen - Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Duong Province, and Mr. Tran Trong Kien - Deputy Director of the Digital Transformation Center of Binh Duong Province.
The Innovation Hub will be a place to connect resources both inside and outside the university to organize advanced training courses, enhance innovation capacity, manage science and technology, improve technology management capabilities, and commercialize technology for managers and businesses. It will also promote and implement activities for technology scouting, transfer, commercialization, product development, and technological solutions. Additionally, it will support and facilitate the formation and development of innovative startup projects among students. Notably, the team of experts and lecturers from Thu Dau Mot University and VISTI will accompany and support startup projects from the idea incubation stage to the development and market expansion stages.
In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, Dr. Doan Ngoc Xuan – Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong – Rector, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trần Văn Nghĩa – Deputy Director of the Institute, performed the initiation ceremony to launch and operate the Innovation Hub at Thu Dau Mot University.
In his congratulatory speech for the event of the two units, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong – Rector of Thu Dau Mot University, emphasized that Thu Dau Mot University is committed to working closely with VISTI, maximizing available resources, and creating the most favorable environment for the Hub's activities. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong believed that the Innovation Hub would soon become a "convergence of excellence" within the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem of Binh Duong Province, the region, and the entire country, creating numerous achievements and contributing to the sustainable development of science, technology, and innovation in Vietnam.
To effectively support the operation of the Hub, Thu Dau Mot University has assigned tasks to its faculties, departments, Youth Union, and Student Association. Based on its functions and responsibilities, each unit will coordinate with the Office of Innovation to develop appropriate activities and enhance the university's entrepreneurship and innovation activities to new heights, worthy of being the leading innovation education institution in Binh Duong Province.
