The delegation was warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Tuan Anh – Secretary of the University Party Committee, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Hong Diep – Vice President, representatives of functional departments, along with nearly 500 students from foreign language and architecture–construction disciplines who took part in the welcoming and exchange activities with the Korean students.
The cultural exchange and student exchange program, jointly organized by Thu Dau Mot University and universities in Yeongdo District, Busan City, was a meaningful and practical activity. It provided valuable opportunities for Vietnamese and Korean students to meet, interact, learn, and share the distinctive cultural values of each country. Through hands-on experiences, the program helped students gain deeper insights into university learning environments, lifestyles, and creative thinking, while also enhancing communication skills, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in multicultural settings in the context of international integration.
In his welcoming remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Hong Diep – Vice President of Thu Dau Mot University, noted that Ho Chi Minh City and Busan City officially established a sister-city relationship in 1995, and the year 2025 marked the 30th anniversary of the friendly cooperative relationship between the two localities. Over the past three decades, cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan has been continuously strengthened and expanded across various fields, particularly in education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. Student exchange programs, educational cooperation, and scientific research collaboration have played an important role in enhancing mutual understanding, building trust, and laying a solid foundation for sustainable cooperation between the two cities. “We are delighted to welcome students from universities in Yeongdo District, Busan City to visit and engage in exchange activities at Thu Dau Mot University through a series of diverse programs such as cultural and artistic performances, cultural experiences, and especially the activity of painting and decorating traditional Vietnamese conical hats (nón lá)—a distinctive symbol of Vietnam’s traditional culture. These activities will offer students many memorable experiences and, in doing so, further deepen the friendship between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan City,” - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Hong Diep expressed.
Within the framework of the program, students from both sides participated in cultural and artistic performances that vividly reflected the unique cultural identities of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea. These performances introduced distinctive features of each country’s traditions, arts, and cultural life. Carefully prepared and enthusiastically performed, the performances created a lively, friendly, and engaging atmosphere. In addition, the program included interactive activities such as quiz games designed to enhance understanding of the history, culture, countries, and people of Vietnam and Korea. Through direct interaction, students not only broadened their cultural knowledge but also strengthened connections, promoted cooperation, and fostered friendship and mutual understanding within the student communities of both countries.
The series of exchange activities left many positive impressions on the student delegation from Yeongdo District and reaffirmed Thu Dau Mot University’s role in promoting international cooperation, as well as in building a dynamic, multicultural, and globally integrated learning environment for students.
