Collaboration in Earth Science Research and Training

The signing ceremony was part of the "National GIS Applications 2025" conference. Attending the ceremony were Prof. Hwa Chien, Director of the Taiwan Group on Earth Observations, and Prof. Yuei-An Liou, Director of the Taiwan and Global Drought Information and Research Center. Representing Thu Dau Mot University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Tuan Anh, Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Bui Thanh Khiet, Vice Chairman, along with deans and directors of university departments and affiliated units.
Seeking to leverage each institution's strengths in human resource development and scientific research in Earth science, Dr. Bui Thanh Khiet, Vice Chairman of Thu Dau Mot University, signed the MOU with Prof. Hwa Chien, Director of TGEO, and Prof. Yuei-An Liou, Director of TGDIRC/DROUGHTHUB.
Under the agreement, Thu Dau Mot University will develop and propose joint research project plans, and assign qualified faculty and students to participate directly in TGEO and TGDIRC/DroughtHub research projects. Additionally, the university will provide facilities, laboratories, and necessary resources to ensure effective implementation of collaborative activities and projects on campus.
For TGEO and TGDIRC/DroughtHub, the memorandum clearly defines their responsibilities to prioritize accepting Thu Dau Mot University faculty and students into research projects and short-term exchange programs, facilitate access to data sources, technology, and specialized equipment for joint research, and send experts and scientists to teach, present at seminars and specialized courses, and co-supervise undergraduate and graduate students at the university.
Building on their potential and strengths in educational science, Thu Dau Mot University, TGEO, and TGDIRC/DroughtHub will jointly organize conferences and scientific seminars, share research experience, and collaborate in seeking funding for joint research projects and scholarship programs to foster a dynamic, innovative, and internationally integrated academic environment.
In his congratulatory remarks on the collaboration, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Tuan Anh, Chairman of the University Council, emphasized that the signing ceremony not only establishes a partnership between Thu Dau Mot University and its international partners, but also lays the groundwork for academic exchange, in-depth research, advanced technology applications, and scientific knowledge sharing. "This collaboration will also contribute to cultivating and developing high-quality human resources, enhancing research capacity, innovating training methods, and expanding Earth science applications in Vietnam, while strengthening the foundation for international integration in this field," said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Tuan Anh, Chairman of the University Council.
