Enhancing stakeholder participation in ensuring training quality

The conference was held in the context of Thu Dau Mot University implementing its Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, oriented towards building a smart, inclusive, innovative university that integrates internationally and serves the community. Based on the educational philosophy of "Experiential Learning – Scientific Research – Community Service," the university continues to comprehensively enhance its training, scientific research, university governance, and digital transformation to cultivate future talent with professional expertise, digital capabilities, innovative thinking, and social responsibility.
 
Over the years, Thu Dau Mot University has continuously improved training quality according to a learner-centered orientation, strengthened partnerships with industry and professional organizations, and expanded international cooperation in training, scientific research, and innovation. To date, the university has 28 training programs meeting the accreditation standards of the Ministry of Education and Training, 08 programs meeting AUN-QA standards, and has achieved educational institution quality accreditation for 02 consecutive cycles. It is a member of international educational networks such as AUN, CDIO, and Times Higher Education (THE). Additionally, a cooperation network with 265 domestic and foreign enterprises and partners has created conditions for the university to effectively deploy activities in building training programs, practical training and internships, scientific research, technology transfer, innovation, and post-graduation student recruitment.
 
Delivering the opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Tuan Anh – Secretary of the University Party Committee, expressed his sincere appreciation to enterprises, employers, management agencies, alumni, and partners who have continuously supported the university in training, scientific research, and community service. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Tuan Anh emphasized that in the context of higher education undergoing a strong transformation facing the requirements of digital transformation, innovation, and international integration, the participation of stakeholders plays an increasingly important role in the internal quality assurance system of higher education institutions. He further noted that feedback from enterprises, employers, alumni and current students, and teaching staff not only reflects the extent to which training programs meet practical requirements but also serves as a basis for the university to review learning outcomes, update program content, innovate teaching methods, perfect quality assurance conditions, and improve learner support effectiveness. This also provides an important foundation for the university to implement continuous quality improvement according to domestic and international accreditation standards. "With the theme 'Connection – Partnership – Development', the 1st Stakeholders Meeting in 2026 continues to affirm Thu Dau Mot University's commitment to building a regular consultation mechanism, promoting the role of stakeholders in the process of building, reviewing, and improving training programs; thereby enhancing workforce quality and meeting the socio-economic development requirements of Ho Chi Minh City, the Southeast region, and the whole country," emphasized Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Tuan Anh.
 

Stakeholder Feedback Drives Curriculum Improvement

One of the central contents of the meeting was stakeholder consultation for the quality assurance and accreditation of training programs. In 2026, Thu Dau Mot University is implementing self-assessment and preparing for external assessment for 16 training programs, including 14 undergraduate programs and 02 master's programs according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. Therefore, collecting feedback from stakeholders is identified as one of the important pieces of evidence in the self-assessment process, and simultaneously serves as a basis for quality improvement according to the PDCA (Plan – Do – Check – Act) cycle.
 
At the meeting, delegates focused on discussing many issues related to training quality and graduates' readiness for the workplace. Representatives of enterprises and employers noted that Thu Dau Mot University students have a solid foundation of professional knowledge, a proactive attitude, and the ability to adapt to the working environment. However, these units also suggested that the university continue to increase practical training hours, expand internship opportunities at enterprises, and focus on developing professional skills, communication skills, teamwork, work management, foreign language proficiency, and digital skills so that students can better adapt to today's evolving workplace that is undergoing strong transformation under the impact of technology.
 
Many enterprises believe that training programs need to be regularly updated according to the development trends of each specialized field, increasing the participation of enterprise experts in the process of building and reviewing modules and organizing experiential learning activities. Expanding the forms of cooperation between the university and enterprises in training, research, technology transfer, and recruitment is also considered an important solution to bridge the gap between training and professional practice.
 
From the perspective of alumni, respondents acknowledge that the training programs have provided the necessary foundation of knowledge and skills for their careers. Simultaneously, delegates proposed continuing to enhance modules related to new technologies, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, project management skills, startup skills, and skills to adapt to multicultural working environments. Some alumni also hoped that the university would expand the alumni network, creating more forums to share career experiences and cooperation opportunities among generations of learners.
 
Regarding students and teaching staff, opinions focused on continuing to perfect the digital learning material system, improving the efficiency of utilizing online learning platforms, supplementing equipment for practice and experiments, and enhancing learning support services. Many opinions also suggested continuing to innovate teaching and assessment methods in a direction that promotes self-study capacity, critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and learning through practical experience.
 
To fully record opinions across each training field, the meeting was organized into in-depth discussion sessions for undergraduate programs including: Music, Tourism, Business Administration, Chemistry, Food Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology, Control and Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Primary Education, Literature Education, Early Childhood Education, and Information Technology; along with two master's programs: Literature Education and Banking - Finance.
 
The opinions recorded at the conference will be synthesized, analyzed, and benchmarked against the requirements of training program standards, learning outcomes, and labor market needs by specialized units. Based on this, the university will develop an improvement plan for each training program, continuing to refine the content, teaching methods, learner assessment activities, and quality assurance conditions. This is also a crucial basis for Thu Dau Mot University to effectively carry out self-assessment, prepare for external assessment activities, and simultaneously continuously improve training quality with a learner- and stakeholder-centered orientation.
