Thu Dau Mot University presented the essays at the worldwide CDIO Conference, time 14th

Taking place from 28/06 to 2/7/2018, the worldwide CDIO Conference, time 14th, which was hosted by Kanazawa Institute of Technology – KIT and International College of Technology-ICT.  Coming from 116 educational organizations and 24 companies in 32 countries around the world, the Conference was attended by 285 Deputies-The founders, the worldwide CDIO organization operators, the experts on technology and educational methods. As a member of CDIO from 2015, Thu Dau Mot University attended this Conference with 4 members, who were also the authors of two essays and a workshop, which was presented and organized at the Conference.

Presented the essays to share about the training programs, the School’s teaching techniques

On 29/6, the essay “Card Model Implementation at TDMU Aligned with CDIO Standard 8” of the two authors Vo Thi Hong Tham and Phan Nguyen Quynh Anh, were presented in the thematic sessions on the parasol and methodology. The essay demonstrated the advantages of this model in design lecture to help people to learn and use knowledge, personal experience, had combined with the new content, implementation experiences, and meditations. Therefore, the model helped the learners develop initiative to build lessons as well as demonstrate the results of their study. This was also a suitable option that the lecturers could use to help the students achieve expected learning result about the attitude and the technical disciplines even. The essays have attracted the consideration of learning of the attended delegates about one of the effective methods that Thu Dau Mot University made, in order to enhance the capacity of trainers and meet the active and positive teaching requirements.

The second essay of Schools at the Conference was presented in the morning of 1/7 at the thematic session on Lecturers’ teaching capacity, was about the designing of training program to support the CDIO-“A Case Study Designing Training Curricula to Support Implementation of CDIO”. The Group of authors: Andrew Marchand, Luong Thi Hong Gam, Vo Thi Hong Tham studied and pointed out some tools to make clear the questions: In implementing of CDIO, which capacities that a Lecturer need to have? Which are the attitudes that a Lecturer needs to have in teaching and learning and How to change them? Through the 2 practical cases, which were implemented the training programs: Thu Dau Mot University and Tra Vinh University, the essay introduced many models, advanced training programs that meet the diverse needs of formation the capacity needs of lecturers , such as: ADW (training on assessment skill), CDW (training on course design), FDW (coordinator development training), onCDW (online course design), PSW (communication skill training), ...

Organize the workshop about the lecturer’s development capacity program

Especially, on 30/6, the members of the School held the workshop lasted 110 minutes for the participants to develop the link between the Schools, about the training programs to enhance the lecturer’s capacity, support to implement CDIO. This was one of the 9 workshops, which were chose to carry during the Conference.

With the theme “Exploring Inter-Institutional Collaboration for Training Programs that Support CDIO Implementation”, the workshop was implemented by the Coordinators came from Thu Dau Mot with many different techniques such as “Think-share-revise” the method “mapping “, ... in order to increase the interactivity for attendees, collected many valuable exchange of ideas between members.

With the participation and sharing of the representatives of the countries, regions, territories, the workshop  gathered numerous initiatives on how to improve the capacity of the trainers; at the same time, to exchange the information connected after the Conference to continue to mount and towards to the intensive cooperation opportunities between the units that needs to access, transfer of training programs.  

Learning experiences, connect to enhance opportunities for cooperation on the CDIO

With the total of 125 essays, research works, the extended sharing sessions, which were performed at the Conference, Thu Dau Mot University had the opportunity to learn and gain new methods, experiences or in implementing CDIO of the advanced universities in the world, or be shared Japan's policies on Science, technology to develop high-quality human resources, as well as the forecasts for the development of science and technology in the future, after the revolution, 4.0.

With the ready state of mind, along with the careful preparations, full participation in every session, Thu Dau Mot University attempted to catch the good opportunities for learning experiences, expand the relationships, particularly in the CDIO network. We hoped that it would bring more opportunities for the cooperation between the School with the other schools, to complete the desire to expand and link effectively the CDIO network in Vietnam and in the world.

The CDIO Conference this time also added 10 new members of Asia and Europe, at the same time selected more CDIO network’s operators in Asia and the other regions. In June 2019, the Worldwide CDIO Conference, time 15th, would take place in Denmark.
